Steve Weiland
Head Coach & Owner
Steve was first introduced to CrossFit in 2009 after searching the
internet for videos of kipping pull-ups. He was immediately attracted
to the variety of movement in the workouts and decided to begin
coaching in 2010 after getting his first trainer certification. Since
then, he has worked with hundreds of athletes to surpass their fitness
goals of gaining strength, losing weight and increasing flexibility.With a background in the US Marine Corps, as well as more than a dozen
years as a software engineer, Steve has enjoyed staying active over
the years in a variety of fitness activities, including several marathons,
cycling events and hiking both the Appalachian and Pacific Crest
Trails. Steve is committed to ensuring members perform movements in a
safe manner, while still benefitting from a great workout. When he is
not training at CFSWP, Steve enjoys spending time with his family.

Shannon Weiland
Membership Services & Events Manager

Lifelong fitness enthusiast, Shannon has participated in many local sporting events including more than 30 cycling events such as: Cycle Oregon, STP, Portland Century, as well as the 2006 Portland Marathon. A Portland local, Shannon grew up in the area, then attended PCC and spent 12 years in the IT industry as a recruiter/account manager. After being introduced to CrossFit 2.5 years ago by her husband, Shannon quickly fell in love with the fitness regime which has taken her body fat down to 10%! Shannon recently received her Powerlifting certification, she plans on obtaining more specialty certifications in 2013 & 2014. When she’s not at the gym, Shannon enjoys spending time with her two sons.

Cody Heeter

  • BS Exercise Science Education from Ohio State University
  • MS Kinesiology from Indiana University
  • Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist – NSCA
  • Health Fitness Specialist – ACSM

Cody has been working in the fitness industry for over 7 years in various roles. He has managed the day to day operations of 3 different college recreation centers, trained and developed student personal trainers, and has provide corporate wellness programming and training. Cody was first introduced to CrossFit in 2009. He has trained off an on since then utilizing local gyms, parks, various boxes, and recently CFSWP. Cody has also competed in several triathlons included a 1/2 Ironman is 2010. Cody interests include: CrossFit, cycling, hiking, camping, cooking, and walking his dog!

Jennifer Kline

  • Level 1 Certified CrossFit Trainer
While growing up in Pennsylvania, Jen competed in team and recreational sports from a young age. After a few friends recommended she try a CrossFit workout three years ago, and was hooked. Since moving to the Portland area in 2012, Jen has been training at CrossFit SW Portland five days a week, which has enabled her to be stronger than she ever thought possible. She loves encouraging her gym community to push themselves to finish every workout, without compromising form.
